I love this small book, because it contains all the experience and tipps from a traditional Belcanto Diva. Luisa Tetrazzini sang together with Caruso at the Metropolitain Opera and when she was not accepted by one of the great conductors, she organized a Christmas open air at San Francisco where she sang for no money for 300.000 people and moved many to tears... an Italian woman full of courage and with a miraculous voice because she trained from age 3 on with her elder sister who took Belcanto classes. Luisa opens her heart to the reader and gives a lot of tipps not only for the voice production, but for emotional releasing, ethics for an artistic carreer, dress code, how to stay in good health and prepare for great stage appearances. This book is interesting to read for all young opera singers who desire for a great career. What the book cannot do for you is to correct your vocal faults or bring you the desired career just from reading it. It is important to understand that one side is to read books from great artists or biographies for a better understanding of the opera world and the artistic development and the other side is to train oneself to improve one's individual situation of voice, body, appearance, body, beauty, courage and discipline. For this purpose it is good to use one of the books of Belcanto teaching where the details of practice with exercises are shown in concrete and where some tipps for a daily practice are explained. Luisa's voice was perfect and in best condition. That is what most singers who start out for a career lack.
